A mobile application enabling passengers to board and pay is now available on Xiamen metro lines, local media reported on June 19. 

Named "Xiamen Metro", the app allows passengers to scan a QR code at the starting turnstile, board the train for their journey, and have their QR code checked at their destination station. 

This convenient and time-efficient payment method requires passengers to apply for an e-metro-card on the app, bind it with their debit or credit cards, and authorize it for password-free payment. 

Each card is only available for one person. Group passengers should buy tokens at the counter or self-service machines. Information asymmetry on passengers entering and exiting the station will be further checked with fees balanced according to their actual use.
