An eye-catching cross-Straits temple fair kicked off on June 14 in Jimei district in Xiamen, Southeast Fujian province, as part of the 2019 Straits forum, local media reported.

The temple fair presented authentic delicacies from Taiwan, offering a gourmet, cultural feast for local residents and tourists.

A group of 40 stores made their debut at the fair, including 20 managed by youth from Taiwan who have started businesses in Xiamen.

Tseng Meng-lung from Taiwan, whose family is originally from Henan province in the Chinese mainland, brought shrimp pancakes to the event.

Tseng explained that his pancakes are made from two different kinds of flour, quail egg and shrimp, making it nutritious, good-looking and delicious.

"I participated in the event last year and visitors loved my food, so I made things again this year," added Tseng.

Visitors can also watch cross-Straits folk performances, circus shows and learn about science at the temple fair.
