Founded in September 1992, ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co is ABB's first joint venture company in China. The company specializes in the production, sales and service of 3.6kV - 40.5kV switchgears and circuit breakers. 

After 27 years of development, ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co has developed into a world-leading manufacturer of medium voltage switchgears and circuit breakers, installed advanced automatic production lines for switchgears and circuit breakers with annual production capacity over 25,000 units of switchgear panels and 70,000 units of circuit breakers. The company has been consistently ranked among China's Top 100 Electric Companies.

It was awarded ISO9001 Quality Management Certification in 1994, and in 1996 was awarded ISO14001 Environmental Management Certification. 

The company has also won awards, such as Clean Production Enterprise and China National Double-Excellence Foreign-Invested Company. In particular, it was granted the National Quality Award in 2002 and State-level Business Integrity Award in 2004. 

In September 2006, the company received reconfirmation of a National Quality Award. In December 2009, the company received the National TQM Excellent Enterprise awarded by China Association of Quality.

In April 2013, it won the Model Enterprise of National Safety Culture Construction award from the State Administration of Work Safety, and in the same year was granted the 5A Class Excellent Supplier award from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co. 

In 2016, its MV remote center "Cloud Service" program and application were selected by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as 2016 National Quality Benchmark.

ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co has been devoted to developing, manufacturing, selling and offering services in medium voltage switchgears and circuit breakers. 

Its products cover air and gas insulated switchgears, medium voltage outdoor components, advanced digital solutions, and E-House pre-installed electric room and environment-friendly gas solutions, which have been deployed in more than 10,000 key projects in China and worldwide, including the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the Three Gorges Project and the new site of CCTV.

The company's products and services have also been used in such industries as nuclear power, railways, metro train lines and power grids.
