Zhangzhou to host sixth cross-Straits tea industry fair

The sixth edition of the Cross-Straits Tea Industry Fair is slated to be held in Zhangzhou, East China's Fujian province on June 14-16.

The 5,000-square-meter fair, themed on implementing rural vitalization and fueling poverty alleviation with precision, will encompass eight zones, showcasing specialty products from Zhangzhou and Taiwan.

Besides, a flurry of activities themed on tea culture are on tap on its sidelines, along with training seminars for cross-Straits farmers in tea industry.

Zhangzhou and its subordinated counties of Pinghe, Hua'an, Nanjing, Zhao'an, Yunxiao and Changtai will also promote local tea products including the Zhangzhou traditional oolong tea, a provincial intangible cultural heritage item in Fujian.

The expo, an important part of the Strait Forum scheduled to be held from June 15 to 21, is jointly sponsored by the Cross-Straits Tea industry Exchange Association, the Fujian Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas and the Fujian Provincial Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives.

The 11th Straits Forum shall include 33 activities, aiming to improve young people exchanges, mutual trust and emotional identity among compatriots from Taiwan and the mainland.

Over the past 10 years, sponsors for the Straits Forum from both sides of the Taiwan Strait has grown from 54 to 82 and more than 100,000 Taiwan compatriots have participated.
