An exhibition showcasing blue-and-white qinghua porcelain for export made in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) was held at the Xiamen Museum on June 7, local media reported.

The history of qinghua porcelain being exported to other countries can be traced back to the 13th and 14th century, when Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) ceramics enjoyed a strong reputation in the Islamic world of West Asia.

The period under the reign of emperors Kangxi and Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty marked another golden era for qinghua porcelains, which saw significant overseas sales during that time.

The porcelains on display feature distinctive shapes and patterns designed to appeal to the aesthetic tastes and living customs of foreigners.

The exhibition, sponsored by the Southern Song Guan Kiln Museum and presented by the Xiamen Museum, is expected to last until Aug 7.
