To mark this year's national Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, on June 8, Xiamen in East China's Fujian province planned 75 cultural activities throughout the month.

The range of activities includes exhibitions of intangible cultural heritages, dialect concerts, and opera and dance performances.

The launch ceremony of the activities took place June 8 in Aotou cultural village, which once was a fishing village.

According to the organizing committee, the village has unique charm which combines traditional culture and modern tourism. It is a perfect place to promote the protection of intangible cultural heritages in the new era.

Xiamen has been attaching great importance to the protection and inheritance of its intangible cultural heritages for many years.

The city conducts many activities with domestic cities such as several in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Qingdao in Shandong province to enhance communication on intangible cultural heritages.

The city also makes full use of its close ties with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan as well as Southeast Asian countries to showcase its intangible cultural heritages and to promote the integration of diverse cultures.
