A Xiamen-sponsored contemporary Chinese lacquer paintings exhibition was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on June 5, marking the end of the three-month itinerant show.
The traveling exhibition, subsidized by the China National Arts Fund, started in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, and toured six cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
In addition, the exhibition, regarded as a banquet of culture, had ignited an enthusiasm for lacquer paintings nationwide.
Ye Shuisheng, president of its sponsor, Xiamen Lianfu Culture Broadcast Co, explained that the exhibition showcases Lianfu's lacquer paintings collection.
Lianfu, reputed as a historical collector of lacquer arts, is one of the earliest private institutions in China dedicated to collecting, exploring and promoting lacquer paintings.
A retrospective exhibition is also on the agenda for Lianfu, aiming to give audiences a systemic and comprehensive instruction on the just-finished traveling exhibition.
