Delonix regia, or flame tree, a species of flowering tree, has come into full bloom in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province recently.

The tree, which originated in Africa, can grow up to 20 meters tall. Its flowers are large, and have four scarlet or orange-red petals which can grow as long as 8 centimeters.

As the city tree of Xiamen, the flame tree symbolizes the fiery spirit of Xiamen locals and the city's prosperous economy.

Here are some of the best places to appreciate the tree's vivid flowers - Wuyi Square, Zhongshan Park, Lianhua North Road, and Lianhua South Road.
