1. Higher education
Xiamen is home to 16 junior colleges and universities, including Xiamen University, Huaqiao University, Jimei University, and Xiamen University of technology. These schools enrolled 50,000 new students at the beginning of 2018, with the total number of students and graduates reaching 162,500 and 41,800, respectively. During the 2018-2019 school year, 19,400 graduate students were enrolled.
2. Vocational education
Xiamen has 20 municipal secondary vocational schools with 41,100 students, providing a multi-faceted workforce which can meet the demands of diverse industries.

4. Wages
In 2017, the average monthly wage of non-private employees in urban areas was 6,288 yuan ($911) and the monthly minimum wage standard is 1,700 yuan, effective July 1, 2017.
