Beichen Mountain is one of the 12 renowned scenic spots in Xiamen. It covers an area of 12.2 square kilometers and boasts many cultural and historical sites such as Hundred Dragon Garden.

Beichen Mountain also stands out for its beautiful scenery, among which the most famous one is Shi'er (twelve) Longtan waterfall that pours down from the mountain top with a full length of 1000 meters. The mountain was washed into a valley with 12 pools by the waterfall, which is the origin of the name of Shi'er (twelve) Longtan waterfall. These pools are different in size, depth and shape, but their waters are all clear.
