The 2019 Global Humanities Forum opened at Xiamen University, East China's Fujian province on April 25.

The forum was co-organized by the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH), the Asian New Humanities Net, and Xiamen University to promote the global exchange and development of the humanities.

The three-day forum will cover various topics related to the humanities, including anthropology and archaeology.

"Humanity is an ethical consideration that looks into how we should treat social and technological progress in the future development of human society," said Chao Gejin, president of CIPSH and professor from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Xiamen University has been actively participating in global humanities events in recent years.

In August 2017, the university attended the World Humanities Conference in Belgium. The 2018 Global Humanities Forum also took place in the university, and a joint office of Xiamen University and CIPSH was founded during the forum.
